HTC Vive: Learning how to shoot in VR

There is a new killer app in the VR world. Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades (H3) is a very popular game on the HTC Vive. In this VR title, the player can select from a list of ranges and guns. Everything down to the physics, to the gun models and operating features feel and move all true to life.

In fact, so much so, I would argue this will be the training sim of the future. Long before you hold a real gun you should train in a simulator like this. I own a real rifle and can attest to the uncanny feel this game has.

Here is a single 45min session I have edited down to around a half dozen or so rounds. In this you can see my rapid improvement as I become more familiar with the nuances of the gun, controllers and environment.

I had a ton of fun playing and can easily see how VR is going to take the world by storm.
